SELF-JUSTIFICATION
Our prayer is that the following texts will prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that we can't and never will reach perfection in this present life. In the Garden of Gethsemane Christ prayed, "let this cup pass from me." The cup he spoke of was the sin of the entire world. He felt the weight of every sin ever committed. He had to bear that for us. He died and rose again. Our justification comes through Christ only. The plan of salvation was triumphantly fulfilled. 1 John 2:2 - "And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world." This cup involved bearing the sins of the whole world. If we do something wrong, we feel guilty. Sometimes guilt eats us up until we can stand it no longer. Then we make it right and ask God's forgiveness (and He does forgive us). Think what Christ spiritually, mentally, physically and emotionally felt when He drank the "cup" just before His death. Jesus knew He would be separated from His Father during this time when He needed Him most. Christ dying on the cross is the one and only act that provided eternal life to the inhabitants of this world. We must pray daily for Him to live within us. We must be good Christian examples for everyone we are around each day so that they will want to love Him the same way we love Him.
